Lesson Structure
-
Baby Swim
From 5 months of age to 2 years old with parent in the water.
Lesson Duration: 30mins
Our parental classes are designed to be interactive and require a parent in the water with their child. We have songs and skill based activities for the children to learn. Skills gained are kicking legs, paddling arms, floating on the water, having face washed as well as learning how to enter the water safely and how to climb out over the edge.
Bubs and toddlers love routine and they learn to associate a song with an action and this is the basis of achieving little steps towards water confidence. We love routine as well, but also with a dash of variety to keep our lessons fresh. -
Pre-School
From 2-5 years old without the parents in the water.
Lesson Duration: 30mins
Class Ratio: 4 students to 1 teacher.
Two and three year olds are learning how to be in a group class away from their parents. They are learning to explore the way their body works in the water. We have developed a special safety plan which is in place for every lesson, to secure the safety of all students. We welcome parents to stay close by their child on the pool deck.
Four and five year olds build on their foundation skills by developing their paddle, kick, bubble and float. -
Mini Squads
Teaching endurance swimming and strength training.
Junior Squad - 30mins
Senior Squad - 1hr
Beginning your swimming journey: What to expect
It is common for young children to find it challenging to separate from their parents when starting swimming lessons. They are adjusting to a new environment, meeting a new swim teacher, and becoming familiar with a new routine. It is perfectly normal for children to take a few lessons to feel comfortable and confident.
Parents can play an important role in making this transition easier. Before your child's first lesson, consider bringing them to the swim school to watch a class and become familiar with the surroundings. During lessons, we encourage you to remain close by on the poolside, offering encouragement through smiles, praise, and applause. Your positive support helps build your child's confidence and creates a reassuring learning experience.
Essential Items: What to pack in your swim bag
To ensure your child is prepared for their swimming lesson, please bring the following:
- Swimmers and a towel.
- A swim cap, which is compulsory for all lessons.
- Goggles, which are required during lessons. For beginner swimmers under 5 years of age, please wait until your child's instructor advises when they are ready to begin using goggles.
For Infants and Toddlers
- Children under 3 years of age who are not toilet trained must wear a swim nappy with snug-fitting leg openings to help prevent leaks.
- Please avoid giving infants a large meal before their lesson.
Certificates
Rewarding children for their progress is a very important part of the learning process.
Each level has a number of skills to be achieved. These are benchmarks to ensure each student can perform the correct skill and technique required.
At the completion of each level, the student is awarded a Certificate for graduating from this level. As soon as this takes place, the student is promoted to the next level.
Our qualified teachers are continuously assessing students throughout the year and adding the skills acquired.
